Cairns and rock stacks are perfect examples of how we as humans have the need to communicate with others, as well as have the innate desire to be creative. If you have ever come across one of these cairns out in nature, I would guess that you have placed a stone or two on a developing cairn. I can not help but smile as I leave my own personal signature along the trail by strategically selecting and balancing a stone on one of these trail markers.
